It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Surrey Golfs Patron, the wonderful Peter Alliss who peacefully passed away over the weekend. Peter, who was regarded as “the voice of golf” to fans everywhere, will be greatly missed, no more so than by everyone in Surrey. He was one of golf’s finest, a great player in his time and without doubt an excellent entertainer post his playing career.
As Surrey Patron Peter attended many events, often simply just turning up to watch players of all ages from the youngsters in the RookieTour right through to the more senior players. He would always make time for a chat with our volunteers, recognising the invaluable work they do. He also attended many AGM’s and presentations, whatever the event Peter always had time for everyone chatting, having his picture taken and sharing many stories, some of which were extremely funny.
As County Secretary I met him on many occasions, in short Peter was a lovely man and total gentleman who will be greatly missed here in Surrey and across the world.
