Online Entry for Amateur Championship

Friday 31st May 2024

To be eligible to compete in any Surrey County Championship a player must:
a. be of Amateur Status as defined by the R & A.
b. be an affiliated member of a Surrey Golf Club.
c. not have taken part in a golf championship of another County affiliated to England Golf, have been coached by or represented another County affiliated to England Golf during the same calendar year.

All entries into Surrey County Championships shall be subject to approval by the Championship Committee, which reserve the right to refuse entry if, in their opinion a players Handicap Index is not reflective of their playing ability. This decision may be based on but is not limited to the following:

1) A handicap record where two or more General Play scores appear in the counting eight.
2) An incomplete handicap record where fewer than twenty scores have been returned.

The Committee’s decision shall be final and the reason for the decision may be withheld.

The Championship Committee will review each player’s WHS record based on the last twenty score cards submitted. If a player has more than two general plays scores in their counting eight, Surrey Golf will determine the difference between their average competition score differential and their average general play differential and if the differential is more than 2 strokes the player will be advised that their entry does not meet the rules of the competition and their entry will be denied.
For entrants that have fewer than twenty scores returned, unless there is a legitimate reason entry will be denied.

All players must have a WHS Handicap Index of 1.0 or lower on the day of the event, if the Championship is over-subscribed entries will be determined by an exact handicap index ballot after the closing date.
Play will be under the Rules of Handicapping in conjunction with Surrey Hard Card unless otherwise advised.

In the event of a tie for the Championship, there shall be a sudden death playoff over holes decided by The Championship Committee.

The qualifying rounds will be played off scratch over 36 holes stroke play. 16 competitors will qualify for the knockout stages. If there is a draw for the 16th spot, the final place will be decided by a sudden death playoff.

No age limit.

Caddies are permitted in this event.

Tee sheets and player notes will be sent out once the drawn is made.

Full details of our rules and regulations can be found on the website under ‘Competitions’, County Rules.
