The first County Card Event of the year took place at the wonderful West Hill Golf Club. The weather was deceiving as despite some sun appearing the wind was deceptively strong and very cold which was going to make the playing conditions very tricky.
We ran a two tee start from the 1st and 10th tees with the Surrey President Alan Page and Past President Roger Vincent very kindly acting as starters. One of the first players to return back to the club house was Matthew Mott from Camberley Heath who recorded 36 points. Matthew held onto that lead for over an hour and a half until the eventual winner Andrew Malkin from Croham Hurst beat him by 3 points, recording 39, an excellent score in the conditions.
The winners from the day were:
Our thanks to all the players for supporting these events helping to make the day so enjoyable. To Alan Page and Roger Vincent for giving up their time to act as starters and of course the one and only Brian Cox for greeting the players on arrival and sorting out the cards, without the work of these volunteers, days like this couldn't happen.
Lastly our thanks to West Hill Golf Club for their wonderful hospitality and course, we look forward to seeing you again next year.
