Surrey U14 Boys, League Match v BB&O and Hampshire
The 1st of our three SE Group league matches was against BB&O and Hampshire in an 8 a side, singles match play event. It was hosted by BB&O at Thorney Park GC.
Saturday was the practice round with Ben Clayton helping the boys with preparation and course planning.
Sunday was match day and we were blessed with beautiful sunshine and great conditions for golf.
After their warmup and team talk the match was finally underway. It was great to see the boys as a squad after such a long break due to Covid.
The first couple of matches were very close with both going down the 18th hole. Surrey was generally very strong in the later matches. The final scores were Surrey 26 points, Hampshire 12 points and BB&O 10 points. Good win for the Surrey boys!
Back to the clubhouse for burger and chips, followed by speeches by the Surrey captain, James Brash, and the other county captains. All the boys were very respectful of the rules due to Covid and a big thanks to the staff at Thorney Park for handling the situation superbly.
