Final Tuesday 27th September at Foxhills Golf Club
The Competition shall be open to all Surrey affiliated Clubs. Each team shall comprise of ten players who have reached their 55th birthday on the day of the match. Five pairs from each Club shall play 18 holes as a fourball better ball match play format. Players may be changed from round to round, but no player may represent more than one Club Team in any one Surrey team event. However, they may represent another Surrey Club in one of the other knockouts provided they are an affiliated member of that club.
Five pairs from each Club shall play over 18 holes in a fourball better ball match play format, from the Yellow Tees of the day.
All matches must be played mid-week and each game played to a result.
A Club may only enter one team.
All players must have a WHS handicap Index on the day of the event.
Home Clubs are reminded that it is the rules of the competition to allow the members of the Away Team to play a practice round at a rate equal to or less than the members' introduced guest rate prior to the match.
The playing handicap is calculated at 90% of their Course handicap and the difference is then taken from the player with the lowest playing handicap. Each away player will receive one additional shot added to their playing handicap after all handicap adjustments have been taken into consideration.
Individual games that are all square after 18 holes will play sudden death to determine a result. Players will play off their handicap index subject to a limit of 24.0. A competitor over the 24.0 handicap index may play but must play off a handicap index of 24.0 in the event.
The home side in each match must offer at least three mid-week dates to their opponents to play the match. These dates must be offered within one week of the draw being published. Whilst it is the responsibility of the home team to offer the dates it is up to both teams to arrange the match. If for any reason the home side fails to offer three dates within the two weeks, then the away team is entitled to offer three mid-week dates to the home team
It is expected that all teams will mutually agree to play their matches before the completion date of each round. Failure to do so will result in the disqualification of both teams. No extensions will be granted.
Matches will be played from the YELLOW tees.
All losing qualifiers and losing first round teams will automatically be entered into the Salver competition.
The winners from the John Ling Trophy and Salver will be expected to host the Finals the following year unless they are finalists, in which case the venue will switch with the Salver Knockout Finalists.
