Golf Manager
This is an outstanding opportunity for an enthusiastic individual eager to work in the golf industry and join a small friendly team.
The postholder will report directly to the County Secretary.
As the Surrey Golf Manager, you will have a passion for golf paired with a solid understanding of the sport and its industry.
The ideal candidate will have excellent people skills, fostering strong, positive relationships with a variety of stakeholders.
The role holder will play a crucial role in the effective operation of Surrey Golf, ensuring that key events are meticulously planned and prepared on time.
The office-based role requires the successful applicant to have a valid driver’s licence and own vehicle, as travel to Surrey-led events will be an integral part of the role.
Essential Criteria for Applicants
- Demonstrated strong literacy with well-developed writing skills
- Proficient in computer use, including Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint
- Proven experience in building and keeping positive relationships with a diverse range of stakeholders.
- Flexible working hours, including availability on weekends to provide support at events
- Exceptional customer service focus, complemented by professional telephone etiquette.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, influencing and listening skills, with the ability to engage and influence at all levels
- Excellent organisation skills, capable of multi-tasking effectively, with attention to detail and a solution-oriented approach
- Established record in problem solving, evaluating and decision-making.
Desirable
- Understanding of Intelligent Golf
- Experience of providing administration / customer support in a golf environment
Key Responsibilities include:
- Primary liaison for the Rookie Tour, liaising with clubs to confirm details for each event
- Oversee the administration of the Surrey Development Programme, maintaining communication with the coaches and parents
- Manage junior events schedules, including management of the Rookie League
- Update the Order of Merit rankings for juniors and men throughout the year
- Arrange junior matches with other counties, coordinating with clubs re fixtures and notifying managers/coaches
- Manage and create content for social media accounts, including Instagram and Facebook.
- Data entry of all matches, championships, Club opens onto the master fixtures spreadsheet
- Attend County Championships and other county events as needed, this will include some weekends
- Perform general office administration duties
- Maintain and update the website with results, news articles, club details, news articles and competition set up
- Act as an ambassador for Surrey County Golf, promoting its best interests
- Carry out other duties aligned with the role’s responsibilities and the county’s
- The ability to handle sensitive and confidential materials with discretion and professionalism
Salary Range: £31,000 to £34,000 per annum (subject to experience)
