Peter Crocombe from Roehampton wins Mid-Age Championship

Thursday 16th June saw 39 players head out onto fairways at Malden GC in search of victory at the Surrey Mid-Age Championship 2022.

With the sun beaming down on players at over 30 degrees, it was clear that the day would be a real test of golf and character. Thick rough lined the fairways and offered nothing but trouble if a player were to miss a fairway.

After the morning round, a solid 71 (Level) from Ben Palmer (Reigate Hill) & Tom Agnew (Horton Park) lead the field. Andrew Cooley (Chobham) and Mike Ducker (Reigate Hill) hot on their heels after carding a 72 (+1).

The afternoon round would prove to be even more difficult with the hot sun scorching the players. Even with the tough conditions, the players battled on and some of the scoring was quite remarkable.

Prizes:

3rd Place – David Primrose (Sutton Green) 144 (+2)

2nd Place – Andrew Cooley (Chobham) 143 (+1)

1st Place – Peter Crocombe (Roehampton) 141 (-1)

Club Team Winners – Andy Inglis & Andrew Cooley (Chobham) 290 (+6)

A massive thank you to the entire team at Malden GC. The hospitality was exceptional, and the course was fantastic.

Well done again to all the players and congratulations to Peter Crocombe.
