Surrey trio up for England Golf Awards

Bob Lacey a member from Farnham Golf Club is up for - Volunteer of the Year - Bob has volunteered for Surrey for over ten years and currently manages the following:

Rookie & JAGS Tour – this equates to 17 events throughout the year, 13 aimed at boys and girls under the age of 14. The additional 4 events are for those starting out on their golfing journeys who may not yet have an official HI. A total of 156 players, representing 46 clubs in Surrey took part in these events.
U12, U13 & U14 Squads – attended all county matches. The U12’s and U13’s went undefeated all season, as were the U13’s, The U14’s ended their season winning the Sussex Salver
Responsible for two Surrey School Events, one to support the lower handicap players and one for the higher. Oversaw the English Schools Southeast Championship.

His unwavering patience, encouragement, enthusiasm and his ability to remain strict but supportive with the players especially around the rules of golf and behaviour manifestly earns the respect of the players and parents. Bobs passion for junior golf is infectious and has resulted in several parents becoming volunteers even after their children have left the programme.

Lottie Woad also a member from Farnham Golf Club - Performance of the Year - Lottie had an incredible 2024 winning the Augusta National Women’s Amateur Championship and being ranked as the world number 1 amateur. She was part of the winning GB&I Curtis Cup and a member of the England Women’s Team which when they won the Home Internationals.

Tandridge Golf Club - Tournament Venue of the Year - We are not surprised to see Tandridge shortlisted for this award having held several Championships and our County Card event here. Tandridge played host to the English Girls' U16/U14 Stroke Play Championship in 2024 in which 144 players took part.
