Surrey Secretaries vs Surrey Captains

The annual match between Surrey Secretaries and Surrey Captains took place at Clandon Regis GC on Thursday 8th May with the captains looking for their first win since 2022.

Pre match, the secretaries exchanged ongoing injuries and haggled for more shots over a bacon roll while the motivated Captains team led by Alan Tickner warmed up prior to teeing off.

Well, the captain and his partner Neil Beard got their team off to a strong start winning on the final hole in a tense affair before Jonathan Kaltner (Effingham) and Ashley Northridge (Kingswood) levelled the match courtesy of their win.

Kevin Mullan of West Byfleet barely made it to the tee with a second to spare but got straight to work in partnering Surrey Golf’s Cameron Bennie for the Secretaries second win which also turned out to be their last…

The Captains clinically finished the tie off with three wins in the final 3 games to win 5-2. Despite their best efforts and recruiting two captains to the Secretaries team following some late drop outs the Secretaries were unable to live with the Captains determination to take the trophy back.

Thank you to Nigel Scandrett for organising the game and Clandon Regis for hosting. As ever, the golf course was in fantastic condition and provided a tough test enjoyed by all.

Finally, Surrey Golf appreciates everything each of the players have done and continue to do for golfers in Surrey. Best of luck for the remainder of the season.
