Betchworth Park Club Champion John Cassidy led the Surrey team against former professional Nick Leconte. Twice during the game, John fell 3 down, but a spirited fightback saw him prevail on the 18th.
By this time, Andy Inglis and Freddie Lindgren, playing in games two and three, had each secured their points, Andy by 3 & 2 and Freddie by 6 & 5. Freddie had begun his match with six straight holes won.
Hertfordshire fought back well with wins in games 4 and 5.
Surrey rookie Sean Stevenson from Farnham took his game by 1 hole at the same time as Keith Waters was winning his on the 17th, These two points won were enough to confirm the match victory for Surrey.
Betchworth Park's Chris Spiller played in the anchor match, winning the final hole to earn half a point.
