Royal Wimbledon GC v Surrey County Golf Seniors - Sunday 11th May 2025
This is a treasured fixture on the Surrey Seniors Calendar.
This was its third playing, with a previous record of one win for each side.
The format was four foursomes matches followed by eight singles.
The Surrey Seniors foursomes line-up was led by the recently crowned Senior County Champion Freddie Lindgren and his compatriot Tord Nilsson, dubbed the "Swedish House Mafia" by Royal Wimbledon Captain Michael Pask the previous year.
2023 & 2024 Senior County Champion Simon Crockett partnered with Martin Slumbers in the second game, followed by Andy Inglis and rookie Julian Tedder in game three.
All three games were well fought on the beautifully conditioned firm and fast Royal Wimbledon course. Surrey prevailed in all three to take an early lead.
Game four concluded in Royal Wimbledon's favour on the beautiful par-3 17th hole with a super 2 by the home team.
The glorious weather allowed the teams to enjoy a delicious al fresco lunch.
Recently retired leader of The R&A, Martin Slumbers, led the singles order and set the scene for a fabulous afternoon for Surrey with a 1-hole victory over RWGC team Captain Michael Pask.
Surrey players remained undefeated in the Singles with five further wins and two halves.
The overall match score was Surrey 10 - Royal Wimbledon GC 2.
We were treated to fabulous hospitality at a wonderful golf club by a most welcoming home team. Many thanks to all involved at Royal Wimbledon Golf Club.
