The penultimate County Card Event of the 2025 season took place at Hankley Common on Wednesday 8th October. This time the format was a better ball team format played at 85% handicap allowance. Despite having a partner the reduced allowance would make for a stiff test given the dangers that lay in waiting in the form of thick heather in full bloom and lightening fast greens!
The field was made up of just 36 players, 18 pairs. The prize for the winners - The Fourball Better Ball Bowl.
On the course there were two closest the pins competitions on the 2nd hole and the 16th. Both tricky Par 3s despite their yardage.
Nearest to the pin on the 2nd hole was Andy Shaill from The Haddington
Nearest to the pin on the 16th hole was Kim Humphreys from Dulwich and Sydenham Hill
In 3rd place on 40 points (on countback) was David Smith (Dulwich and Sydenham Hill) and Daniel Stepney (Croham Hurst)
In 2nd place also on 40 points from our first group of the day was Mike Scott and Peter Hannant from Tyrrells Wood.
Teeing off last but certainly not least were Stephen Houston and Brett Stacy of Coombe Hill who narrowly beat the pair from Tyrrells Wood recording 41 points to take home the trophy! Well done gents.
